Gender discrimination in church governance

This presentation by a reporter for Video Volunteers discusses gender discrimination in church governance in Nagaland. The volunteer discusses about male-dominated church administration and how women are discouraged from becoming pastors and priests in churches in Nagaland. Though women are highly regarded in the society, and for their role and contribution in the scoiety, there are some areas where women are discouraged to be leaders over men or alongside men. Occupying high positions in the clergy as priests is one such area. Sadly such an attitude is rooted in our very own pre-middleages Christianity teachings like "I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet". 1Timothy 2:12. So the attitude of keeping women under wrap is may be not an idea influenced from somewhere else.

With modern society favoring gender equality, and from many sectors women hoping to be treated a par with men, we hope there should be some sort of adaptation with changing times. Or we will continue to stick with ancient traditions?

"Do you think there is gender discrimination in the church today in Nagaland?
