Movie Promo | Beyond the 3rd kind | Co-produced by Rebecca Changkija

An excerpt about the movie from an article covered by Morung Express:

"All wait to watch a film, ‘Beyond the 3rd Kind,’ based on the Beyond_the_3rd_kindstory of a boy who undergoes sex change and leads a life of a woman. The film is a hard-hitting subject and revolves around the issue of gay sex and unnatural method man is adopting to satisfy his urges.
The story shows the psychological trauma of the “lady boy” (a transgender) and how he struggles to get out of it. But there is no return from where he is now. His journey is full of ups and downs, where his body earns him his living. He starts hating his body and begins soul-searching. What he is now was his decision, but now he is convinced that his decision was wrong.
The film involves characters such as commercial sex workers, models, bar girls, police and touts. The film is a very realistic and with its grey shades, gives very sensitive moods.
The film is co-produced by Rebecca Alemla Changkija. The film is directed by Shiraz Henry.
Rebecca said the movie would be released in ‘many countries.’ The lead role in the film is acted by model Natasha Sikka. The producing team also has director Vivek Sharma, Make-Up man Pradeep Dada and Hair Stylist Selvi. The costumes are by Find Studioz and Yangerla Changkija, also from Nagaland. The music is by upcoming musician Alobo Naga."

Nagas - From Headhunters to Christ!

Source: http://www.youtube.com/user/BNMEventReports

Nagas: The advent of Christianity

The most important landmark in the history of the Naga people with considerable social, cultural and political ramifications is the arrival of missionaries and the spread of Christianity among the Naga tribes. The acceptance of Christianity marks a departure from their many tribal customs and traditions, and along with the spread of English education, heralds the arrival of modernity in the Naga hills. The first missionary to arrive the Naga hills is believed to be Rev. Miles Bronson in 1841 although he stayed only for a short period. In the 1870s, Dr. & Mrs. E.W. Clark worked among the Aopeople and with the help of Mr.Godhula, an Assamese Christian, established the first Church in Molungkimong in 1872.

The missionaries served as an agent in forging a greater "Naga" identity which is a radical departure from the age old set up of warring village republics. The dreaded custom of head hunting slowly declined and disappeared as more and more Nagas embraced Christianity in the early 20th century. Today, more than 95% of Naga people claim to be Christians. Christianity has changed the Naga society entirely and it bears little semblance to the tribal society that it was a century ago. The Christian missionaries interfered in the social and cultural practices to a far greater extent than the government. The new educational system and religion disrupted the indigenous pattern of life as both the British administration and the Christian missionaries brought about dramatic changes among the Naga tribes thereby effecting the tribes to discard their age old social patterns, cultural practices and traditional political setup without providing functional substitutes.
